NEW SELF DEFENCE COURSE
As from Friday 4th January 2008 we will be running a self defence course, every Tuesday and Friday from 6.30 to 7.30pm until the end of January.
This is open to everyone, not just club members. The course will comprise various grappling, stick and edged weapon techniques, as well as striking and control techniques as taught to the British armed forces, Japanese and UK police forces.
This will be a mixed class, i.e. juniors and seniors will be sharing the same mat though will not train together for safety reasons.
Each lesson will cost £4, though club members will get a rebate on this fee. There will be no gi's worn during these training sessions, order of dress will be tracksuits.

NEW GRADES
Tom and Richard passed to brown belt and orange belt respectively on Sunday at Thanet Judo Kwai.
They successfully got through a tough session, so a well done.
The demonstration at the East Stour Primary School was quite a success, with the club's students braving the heat to show what Aikido is all about.

On Sunday 26th February 2006, the club is taking part in an Area Randori Competition at Bisham Abbey, Buckinghamshire.

The event was held on 21st January 2006 at the Triangle Community Centre in Dover. The "freeplay" training day was designed to direct children and young people in the art of Tanto Randori.. You'll see just how much fun the kids have had that day. :)
On Sunday 26th February 2006, the club is taking part in an Area Randori Competition at Bisham Abbey, Buckinghamshire.
Competitiors have to be at the venue for a 9.30am registration so the mini bus will be leaving:
- from Dover at 7am.
- from Folkestone Police station at 7.30
- from the Swan Centre at 8am. Again the cost for the bus will be £7.

From the Gowa Ryu club, Kirsty Bricknell was promoted to 3rd kyu (green belt), and Christophe Courtin to 1st kyu (brown belt).
We are proud to announce that the Student of the Month for October 2005 is Alex Vergara.

The Aikido Development Society, Gowaryu Aikido, Katsujinken Aikido Ryu, Winchmore and David Lloyd Clubs visited Shaun Hoddy's Dojo on Canvey Island on the 4th of September 2005 for a Koryu Dai Go course.
Shaun Hoddy can be seen performing the Koryu Dai Go on Aikido Development Society.
A big thank you to Shaun and his club member for an enjoyable afternoon.
Saturdays competition was quite a success, with contestants from the Ashford and Deal clubs battling it out in four different categories.
